This past weekend Dominique Bouchard attended the 2008 Canada Cup in Etobicoke, On. Bouchard who continues to excel in the backstroke swam a personal best time of 2:11.53 in the 200 meter Backstroke and 1:03.18 in the 100 meter backstroke putting her in 7th and 12th position. She continues to train hard as she will be heading to Australia to represent Canada in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in January.
The North Eastern Ontario Regional 2 meet was held in North Bay over the past weekend with nineteen of the North Bay Y Titans participating in this event. Leading the way for the Titans were Rochelle Leppert, Garrett Ryan, Alyssa Stoppa, Katherine Tripp and Samantha Cowan who all achieved personal bests in each of their events while at the same time landing in the top five rankings. Building on that success, Kelton Baran, Aurora Buckley, Kayley Niemela, Grace Liritzis, Renee Gagnon, Kristen Gough, Brittany Pask, Jeremy Sallie, Max Giesler and Alexander Campbell all swam their way to top three finishes. Emily Bolan, and Kristen Lazarou also placed in the top ten in several of their events. First time competitors Rebecca Gough and Amy Niemela both excelled with Gough placing in the top five and Niemela in the top ten rankings in several of their events. The Titans will continue to train hard as they prepare to travel to Toronto for the prestigious Youth Cup meet being held next weekend.
Three North Bay Y Titans qualified and were selected to represent the North Eastern Ontario Regional AllStars at the Varsity/Neor All Star Meet in Sudbury this past weekend. The meet brought together several universities from across Ontario.
Leading the way was Bryanna Penno with four top four finishes including a gold in the 100 meter butterfly; a silver in the 200 meter breaststroke; and bronze in the 100 meter breaststroke. Ashley Duquette brought home two top ten finishes in the 50 and 100 meter butterfly. Nicole Plumb one of the youngest and a first time competitor at this meet grabbed two top fifteen finishes. The Titans will continue to train for their next meet being held in North Bay at the end of the month.
